Wednesday: Hospice House of Monroe County Fundraiser at Smugglers Cove
On Wednesday, August 21, Smugglers Cove in Tannersville will be hosting a fundraiser benefitting the Hospice House of Monroe County.
Simply stop in for some great seafood that day and 25% of all food sales will be donated. Earlier this summer amid a groundswell of community support the Hospice House re-opened allowing its outstanding work and service to continue. The Hospice House has provided peace to many patients and their families during their most difficult times. It is a tremendous asset to the region and the families it serves.
National Immunization Awareness Month
National Immunization Awareness Month reminds us that making sure children’s immunizations are up-to-date is part of back-to-school preparations.
Vaccines protect against conditions that can be life-threatening, such as measles, mumps & hepatitis. The provisional period in which Pennsylvania students can attend school without their vaccinations is five days. You find an array of information on school immunizations here.
New Farmers Market Nutrition Program App

Around the 40th District
Monday, I presented Charles, 95, and Rose Giltner, 96, with a Senate Citation to honor them as they celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary. The two met in 1941 and were eventually married on August 12, 1944, while Charles was serving in the U.S. Navy during WWII after a two week engagement. They are a true testament to the Sacrament of Marriage and the vow each took to one another 75 years ago! Happy Anniversary Charles and Rose!
Thank you to everyone who stopped out on Saturday afternoon to Wind Gap Park for the annual ATC Trail to Town Family Jamboree. We had perfect weather this year. This is always a wonderful event to highlight Wind Gap Borough as an Appalachian Trail Community!
I want to extend a special congratulations to Scott Mackes of Troop 102 in Saylorsburg for reaching the rank of Eagle. His Court of Honor was held on Saturday at the Gilbert American Legion. Congratulations Scott!
