Harrisburg — Senator Mario Scavello (R-40) will visit Monroe Career and Technical Institute tomorrow, March 11, for a tour of the facility and to engage in the active classrooms with the students.
The tour will take place from noon to 2 p.m. at the school, located at 194 Laurel Lake Road in Bartonsville.
“Technical schools such as MCTI are a great resource for students interested in exploring a career in the trades, and are vital to providing a skilled workforce for our region,” said Scavello. “This is a great opportunity for me to see firsthand what MCTI provides to its students.”
As an extension of Monroe County’s four school districts, MCTI provides tuition-free career and technical education for secondary students of Monroe County. Each school day, students attend a half-day at MCTI and a half-day at their high school. MCTI offers its students opportunities to learn specific career skills and training which prepares them for entrance into the workforce or post-secondary education.
The mission of the Monroe County Career and Technical Institute is “to educate students for successful careers and to inspire lifelong learning in a changing 21st century global economy.” MCTI provides training and education through a set of courses that prepares students both academically and technically for a career or to pursue postsecondary education.
MCTI offers students 21 Programs of Study and 3 Tech Prep Programs. These Programs are approved Pennsylvania Department of Education career and technical programs that articulate the secondary career and technical education to a postsecondary degree, diploma, or certificate program. These 24 Programs align the secondary courses to a postsecondary program to complete a degree or certificate.
