Looking Back at Veterans Day
This past weekend, groups throughout our region and country gathered to honor our veterans. We joined ceremonies throughout the area at our schools, cemeteries and memorials to pay tribute to those who have served our nation. Below are pictures from some of the events across the 40th District.
We are forever grateful for your service and willingness to pay the ultimate price in defense of our freedoms. God bless you all!
The PA Veterans’ Trust Fund is accepting grant applications for programs and services benefiting Pennsylvania veterans. The deadline to apply is Dec.18.
The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will award grants to nonprofits, veteran service organizations and county directors of veteran affairs. Funding priorities for this grant cycle are veterans’ initiatives focused on homelessness, behavioral health, veterans’ courts, and new and innovative programs and services.
This is American Education Week, which celebrates the collaboration between parents and educators that is crucial to making sure the schools in our communities succeed.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to take an interest and become more involved in supporting their children’s schools.
Counties, municipalities, municipal authorities, county conservation districts, councils of government, educational institutions, watershed and other organizations have until Dec. 20 to apply for state Growing Greener Plus grants to restore and protect water quality.
Funded through the commonwealth’s Growing Greener Plus program, $30 million in grant funding is available to help communities restore and protect water quality by reducing abandoned mine drainage and urban and agricultural runoff pollution and addressing harmful algal blooms, climate resiliency, PFAS, and other emerging issues.
Anglers and hunters are advised to look out for scams when purchasing their licenses online. The warning follows recent reports of customers paying for licenses through third-party websites not affiliated with either agency, and then never receiving a license.
Fishing licenses and permits, as well as hunting and furtaking licenses and permits can be purchased safely at the PA Game Commission and PA Fish and Boat Commission online Outdoor Shop.
