Merry Christmas

I  hope you have a Merry Christmas, filled with family, friends and good cheer. As another year draws to a close, we continue to pray for peace and understanding.

Monroe County District Office Relocation

As of Wednesday, December 26, my Monroe County District Office will be officially relocated to the second floor of the Wise Building on Route 611 in Scotrun (2398 Route 611, Suite 201, Scotrun, PA). It is my pleasure to continue assisting constituents throughout the area and we are excited to serve our residents out of this new location just off Interstate 80.

To get to the office via I-80 West, take the Scotrun Exit and turn left on SR 611 N. Travel 0.8 miles and the office is located on the left (next to the Corona Butcher).

Since turns for northbound traffic are currently restricted for the Route 611 construction project, residents can also access the new office through the Scotrun Avenue entrance. Scotrun Avenue runs parallel to 611.

As always, please do not hesitate to give a call for assistance with any state-related issues – 570-620-4326. (All telephone numbers remain the same.)

Please excuse any potential temporary hiccups in our response as our phones and computers are moved over to the new location this week.

511PA Can Help with Holiday Travels

If you are traveling this holiday season,, Pennsylvania’s statewide travel information service, has several useful features.

Motorists can see any travel alerts and snow plow updates on state roads along a specific route when they enter “start” and “end” points. To view travel information tailored to a specific route, use the “Check My Route” tool on the 511PA map. It includes state roads and the PA Turnpike.

New Report Underscores Need to Combat Opioid Crisis

According to a new research brief by the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council, substance use was present in 1 of every 25 maternal hospital stays (or 39.8 per 1,000) in the two-year period 2016-2017. The rate was 1 in 69 (or 14.6 per 1,000) in 2000-2001.

Opioid drugs were the most common substance used, accounting for about 49 percent. It’s a reminder that plenty of work remains in preventing and treating addiction in Pennsylvania.

If you or someone you know needs help, the Drug and Alcohol Referral Tool (DART) is a good place to start.

PA Farm Show set for Jan. 5-12

The 103rd Pennsylvania Farm Show runs Jan. 5-12 at the PA Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.

It includes thousands of exhibits and animal competitions, plus delicious food, providing insight into a $135 billion industry that employs more than a half-million Pennsylvanians. This year‘s theme, “Inspiring Pennsylvania’s Story,” will celebrate the ways in which agriculture has impacted the lives of Pennsylvanians for centuries.

Here’s everything you need to know to plan a trip to the Farm Show.

Snowmobiling Opportunities in State Parks and Forests

Thousands of miles of snowmobile areas are available for use in state parks and forests.
