I’m sending this brief e-newsletter to announce the beginning of the 2015-2016 legislative session on Tuesday at the Capitol. The day featured swearing-in ceremonies, and I was proud to be among the newly elected senators taking the oath of office. If you find this e-newsletter useful, I invite you to visit my website www.MarioScavello.com for more information about your state government. I was honored and humbled to take the oath of office Tuesday to represent the new 40th Senatorial District covering parts of Monroe and Northampton counties. The ceremony took place as the Senate convened for the 2015-16 legislative session. Being sworn in were members newly elected or re-elected by voters in the November 2014 election. It was truly an exciting day. I’m hopeful for what the future holds, but fully aware of the work to be done. Pennsylvania faces serious fiscal challenges in the years ahead, with lagging revenues and a structural deficit requiring some difficult choices. These are tough decisions that voters sent us to Harrisburg to make. I’ll keep you posted as we go through the state budget process over the next several months, and update on the other issues that will come before the General Assembly. Senator Scavello discusses his legislative priorities. Update on the Northampton County District OfficeWe are close to finalizing details to establish our Northampton County district office and will have an announcement soon! Along with portions of Monroe County, the 40th Senatorial District includes 23 municipalities in Northampton County and I am eager to open our new office as soon as possible. The Monroe County District Office is located at DePue Plaza in Tannersville (2989 Route 611, Suite 103).
