I joined my fellow legislators in congratulating Pocono Health System on the opening of their Physician Associates West Main Street location. The opening of this new facility will help provide greater access to medical care for residents throughout the region.

Thank You to Tele-Town Hall Participants

This past Tuesday, I spoke with more than 6,000 constituents of the 40th Senate District via my Tele-Town Hall.

Many issues were discussed, including the current state budget impasse and the status of school property tax reform/elimination. If you would like to hear what was discussed on the call, you can check out the audio here.

As always, I invite you to reach out to my office with any state-related issues or questions.

I had the pleasure of meeting many constituents at the West End Fair and supporting this yearly tradition.

Traveling Over Labor Day? Check Traffic Conditions on

If you’re heading out of town or staying local to participate in the last unofficial weekend of summer, visiting the state’s traffic information website can help make your travels easier.

By logging onto, travelers can check current traffic impacts from construction, traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 770 traffic cameras. The service is free and available 24 hours a day.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.

Travelers are always reminded to buckle up, put their phones away and stay sober when behind the wheel.

Website Provides Real-Time Information on Transportation Projects

PennDOT has established a new website for Act 89 infrastructure reinvestment and construction.

You can see active construction projects that are underway, beginning this year or being bid this year on the Construction Projects section. The Act 89 Progress section indicates the status of project commitments.

To view news and traffic alerts for a PennDOT region, visit the applicable district’s page. If you would like to report a concern on state-owned road conditions, construction projects, signs or signals, or other topics related to state roads, please visit their Customer Care Center.

I recently wished Dorothy Elizabeth Bennett-Rossini a Happy 100th Birthday. It was my honor and pleasure to join her in celebrating this milestone. I wish Elizabeth the best and look forward to seeing her for her 110th!
