14th Anniversary of 9/11

Three years after the initial completion of the Flight 93 National Memorial, a new visitor center and museum has opened at the site dedicated to the memory of the 40 passengers and crew who died during the terrorist hijacking of Sept. 11, 2001. The visitor center was financed by a public-private partnership in collaboration with the National Park Service, which will operate the site. Please visit here for more information.

Last weekend, I participated in the Annual Labor Day Parade in Pen Argyl with State Representatives Marcia Hahn (138th) and Joe Emrick (137th).

Legislative Report

This month, Senator Scavello interviewed Gina Kormanik, Director of Business Development for the Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board, and John Casella, Director of Monroe County CareerLink. The discussion centered on the job outlook for Northampton and Monroe counties, the role of CareerLink services in matching individuals to available jobs and the resurgence of manufacturing and technical jobs.

You can watch previous editions of Legislative Report on the website.

2015 Small Business Advantage Grant Program is Open

The Small Business Advantage Grant (SBAG) is a grant program providing 50 percent matching grants, up to a maximum of $9,500.00, to enable a Pennsylvania small business to adopt or acquire energy efficient or pollution prevention equipment or processes. Well-designed energy efficient or pollution prevention projects can help small businesses cut costs and reduce the risk of regulatory issues, while simultaneously protecting the environment.

Game Commission

The Pennsylvania Game Commission has scheduled additional basic Hunter-Trapper Education courses for September, prior to the fall hunting seasons. There is no fee for the basic HTE course; however, pre-registration is required and online registration is available for all hunter-trapper courses offered here.

State Parks

Fall is a great time to explore Pennsylvania's State Parks. Start here to reserve campsites, cabins, picnic pavilions, whitewater boating launch time permits and more.
